The walk up to Tower Hill viewpoint near Conwy rewards you with one of North Wales' finest panoramas - on a clear day you can see right across the Conwy Valley and beyond. It's a proper scramble to reach the summit, nothing extreme but enough to get the legs working, and the path can be boggy depending on weather so decent footwear matters.

Once you're up there, the view justifies every muddy step. The Conwy Castle sits below like a toy fort, the estuary opens out towards the coast, and if visibility's decent you can pick out Snowdonia in the distance. There's a cairn at the top and a real sense of having earned the vista.

The viewpoint works brilliantly as a morning or late afternoon stop if you're based at Plas Farm Caravan & Lodge Park, just a few miles south near Abergele. Allow 45 minutes to an hour for the walk depending on fitness - it's not long but it's not flat either. Families with older kids will enjoy it, though younger ones might find the final push tiresome. History buffs get a kick out of the medieval castle views below.

There's no visitor centre or facilities up top, so bring water and dress for exposed moorland. Free to visit, obviously. Best avoided in proper fog when the whole point disappears, and the path can be slippery after rain. Go early if you want solitude - it's popular enough that afternoon weekends can feel a bit crowded.
