Tor Hill

Standing at 1,690 feet, this granite outcrop rewards the steep climb with sweeping views across Dartmoor's wild landscape. The walk up from the nearest parking spot takes about 45 minutes of proper uphill slog, but the panorama from the top makes every breath-stealing step worthwhile. On clear days you can see all the way to the coast.

Walkers and families with older children will get the most from Tor Hill - the scramble over the final rocky section isn't suitable for pushchairs or wobbly toddlers. The granite tor itself provides a dramatic backdrop for photos, and there's something deeply satisfying about conquering one of Dartmoor's classic peaks.
