The centre houses a real telescope used for actual astronomical research, and you can watch scientists track potentially hazardous space rocks. It's absorbing stuff if you've got any interest in astronomy or planetary defence, though honestly, it works best if you're already into that world. Casual visitors sometimes find it a bit specialist and want more interactive exhibits than it offers.

The walk around the grounds takes twenty minutes or so, and the main appeal is understanding what the team actually does and getting a sense of the equipment they use. School groups and keen amateur astronomers will find it genuinely interesting. Fair warning though - opening hours can be limited and you'll want to contact them ahead rather than just turning up. Admission details aren't widely advertised either, so ring first.
