Nash Court Maize Maze

A maize maze carved into a Herefordshire field near Presteigne - straightforward stuff, really. You get a printed map (or try to navigate without one if you're feeling confident) and wander around while the corn towers above you, blocking the view and generally making you feel properly lost for an hour or so.

It's the sort of thing families with young kids genuinely enjoy. There's something about the mild panic of not knowing which path leads where that keeps them entertained longer than you'd expect. Teenagers will likely find it a bit thin unless they're into the competitive side of getting out fast. Solo walkers won't find much here - you need a group to make it work.

Timing matters. Go when the maize is tall enough to actually create a maze (late summer through early autumn), not in July when it's barely knee-high. The experience is weather-dependent too - muddy after rain, baking in full sun. Allow 45 minutes to an hour depending on your navigation skills and how seriously the kids take it.

If you're based at one of the nearby parks - Presteigne Holiday Park, Pearl Lake, or Townsend Touring just down the road - it makes a decent afternoon activity alongside proper walks in the Radnor Forest nearby. Worth a couple of hours as part of a wider Herefordshire trip, less worth planning a day around.
