Down a quiet lane near Stirling, there's a small farmhouse where animals roam freely about the property - chickens, goats, and whatever else the owners have decided to keep that day. It's genuinely low-key, the sort of place you'd only find if someone local tips you off or you stumble upon it while exploring the backroads between Glasgow and the Trossachs.

What you get is exactly what it says on the tin: a chance to see and interact with farm animals in a proper working setting, not some sanitised petting zoo. Kids absolutely love it, though the appeal drops off sharply once they hit their teens. Adults with any farming background or a soft spot for animals find it oddly pleasant - there's something restorative about watching goats potter about without a care.

The practicalities are hazy. Opening hours don't seem to be widely advertised, and whether admission is free or charged depends entirely on who's running the place on the day you visit. Best assumption is to turn up, see if anyone's about, and expect to pay a small fee if they let you in. Allow 30-45 minutes, tops - unless you're genuinely fascinated by livestock, you'll have seen everything worth seeing by then.

If you're bunking down at one of the nearby glamping spots - Duncan Family Farms, Endrick Escape, or Arcadia - this makes an easy afternoon diversion before heading into Stirling proper or pushing on towards the Highlands. Nothing groundbreaking, but on a fine day it beats scrolling on your phone.
