Perfect for walkers doing a longer route through the area, though equally fine if you've only got twenty minutes between other things. The real strength here is accessibility - you don't need to be scrambling up hillsides or negotiating woodland paths. Families with older kids will get something out of it; younger ones might lose interest quickly unless there's a picnic involved.

Go mid-week in poor weather and you'll have the place to yourself, which can be just as rewarding. Worth a detour if you're in the region; don't travel hours specifically for it.
