The Jack Wolfenden Stand

Football grounds have a way of getting under your skin, especially when you've got a connection to the club. The Jack Wolfenden Stand at Gigg Lane is Bury FC's home - a proper old-school football stadium that's been here since 1885. It's not a glossy, modern affair with corporate boxes and all that. If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby caravan parks - Burrs Country Park is excellent if you want proper facilities, or Dearden Wood if you're after something a touch quieter - Bury town centre is just a quick hop away. The stadium is genuinely walkable from the town. The surrounding area is proper residential, so there's pubs and chip shops but it's not touristy. Check ahead for match fixtures if you want the full experience rather than just sightseeing the stand itself. Even then, don't expect luxury - expect atmosphere and genuine football culture.
