You'll spot it before you know what you're looking at - a massive red apple sitting incongruously in Swansea, impossible to miss and rather brilliant in its sheer oddness. It's a public art installation that's become something of a local landmark, the kind of thing that makes you smile when you drive past and utterly baffles first-time visitors who have no context for why there's a giant piece of fruit dominating the skyline.

It's not a full afternoon activity, to be honest. You'll take photos, maybe have a laugh about it, and be on your way within ten minutes. But that's rather the point - it's a quirky focal point rather than a destination in itself. Families with small children find it amusing enough, and it makes for decent Instagram fodder if you're into that sort of thing.

The real value is as part of a broader Swansea exploration. It gives you a sense of the city's willingness to be a bit playful with itself, and it's useful as a meeting point or a landmark when you're navigating the area. If you're staying at Blackhills Leisure or Swansea Marina Tourer Park - both excellent bases just under four miles away - you could swing by on your way to or from town without any detour worth mentioning.
