Tealing Hill

The walk up Tealing Hill takes about 45 minutes from the car park, and on a clear day you'll see right across Strathmore towards the Grampians. It's not a dramatic peak - more of a rounded bump really - but that's partly why it works so well. No scrambling, no exposure, just a steady climb through moorland with Forfar visible below.

On the way up you'll pass old stone dykes and patches of heather that turn the hillside purple come late summer. The views aren't jaw-dropping in the Alps sense, but there's something genuinely absorbing about watching the landscape roll away in layers - closer hills in grey, distant mountains fading to blue. The kind of view that makes you want to sit down with a flask.

Walkers will find this straightforward and rewarding without being taxing. Families with primary-age kids manage it fine if they're used to hills. It's free and accessible year-round, though winter can get boggy. Allow two hours there and back to not feel rushed.
