Walking along the rugged coastline near Gorran Haven, you'll stumble upon the wreck of the Susan Joy Parker, a cargo vessel that met her end on these unforgiving Cornish rocks. The remains are scattered across the shoreline, visible at low tide when the sea retreats to reveal twisted metal and weathered hull sections.

History buffs will find this more compelling than casual visitors. The ship ran aground decades ago, and while nature has claimed much of her, enough remains to piece together the story of another vessel defeated by Cornwall's notorious coast. Getting there requires a decent walk from Gorran Haven village along the coastal path - proper walking boots essential.

Families might find it a bit underwhelming unless the kids are genuinely interested in maritime history. The wreck itself won't entertain little ones for long, though the coastal walk is lovely on a clear day. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the dramatic setting, particularly during stormy weather when waves crash over the remains.

Best visited during spring tides when more of the wreck is exposed. Check tide times before setting out - there's little point making the trek at high water. The site works well as part of a longer coastal walk, and you're well-placed for exploring other South Cornwall attractions.
