Little Perhaver Beach

Little Perhaver Beach sits tucked into a quiet corner of the Cornish coast near Gorran Haven, and it's the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for. The beach itself is small - properly small - with golden sand that slopes gently into the water, backed by low cliffs and a scattering of beach huts that give it a proper old-school feel. Low tide reveals rock pools worth poking about in, and the water is calm enough for a decent swim when conditions allow.

Families with young children will find it manageable - the gentle slope means paddling is easy, and there's enough sand to keep kids occupied for a good couple of hours. Older walkers appreciate the quiet; it's nowhere near as rammed as the better-known beaches further along the coast. The beach is free to access, though parking nearby is limited and you might need to use Gorran Haven's facilities.

Best visited on a quieter weekday or out of peak summer, especially if you're camping at Treveague Campsite - it's barely a mile away and perfect for an evening stroll. Pentewan Sands Holiday Park is also close by if you want more facilities. Allow an hour or two here, longer if the tide pools capture your attention. It won't blow your mind, but it's a proper little pocket of peace on a coast that's increasingly crowded. Combine it with a walk towards Dodman Point or a visit to nearby Heligan Gardens if you're staying in the area for a full day.
