Stapleton Hill

The walk up Stapleton Hill takes about twenty minutes from the car park near Presteigne, and the effort pays off with proper views across the Welsh border country. It's not dramatic - the Herefordshire landscape rolls rather than soars - but on a clear day you get a real sense of how the land falls away toward Wales. The summit itself is modest, more of a gentle rise than a peak, but that's rather the point. This is honest walking country, not the sort of place where you arrive breathless and triumphant.
