The church sits on Market Drayton's high street, all red sandstone and proper character. St Peter is the sort of place that rewards a wander around - there's real craftsmanship in the stonework, and inside you'll find the kind of quiet that actually means something. The interior's got that lived-in feel churches this old tend to have, with local history embedded in the walls and floors.

It's not a tourist circus. You won't spend hours here, but that's rather the point. Twenty minutes to half an hour is about right for a proper look around, longer if the church happens to be open and you fancy sitting down for a bit. The real value is architectural - if you care about English parish churches and their development, there's plenty to notice. Families with young kids will find it peaceful rather than engaging, to be honest.

Market Drayton itself is a working market town, not a heritage theme park, which means St Peter feels genuinely used rather than preserved behind velvet ropes. Pop in while you're grabbing lunch or wandering round the town centre. If you're based at Ted's Farm or one of the glamping sites nearby - Westcott Woods or Shropshire Glamping are both within six miles - this works as an easy morning stop before heading elsewhere in Shropshire. Worth seeing if you're in the area; don't reroute your holiday specifically for it.
