St Michael and All Angels

The church sits quietly in the Norfolk countryside east of North Walsham, a proper medieval building that rewards a short detour if you're staying at one of the nearby parks. St Michael and All Angels is the sort of place that makes you understand why people walked miles on a Sunday - the scale of it, the craftsmanship, the sheer weight of stone and history.

Inside, there's good Perpendicular tracery in the windows and a decent amount of original medieval work if you know what to look for. It's free to visit, obviously. Go on a clear morning and the light through those windows is something else. Not dramatically famous, not mobbed with tourists - just a solid medieval church doing what it's always done. If you're camped at Norfolk Broads Haven or Dilham Hall Retreats, it's barely ten minutes away and worth the walk to stretch your legs. History buffs will appreciate the bones of the place. Kids probably won't be gripped for long, but a quick stop between park activities makes sense. The surrounding area is flat and quiet, which is either a selling point or the entire reason you've come to the Broads in the first place.
