St Mary's Church, Westow

The church sits quietly on the edge of Westow village, about six miles north of York, and honestly it's the kind of place you'd walk straight past if you weren't looking. That would be a mistake. Step inside and you're confronted with one of the finest examples of a 14th-century nave in Yorkshire - the original medieval timberwork still holding the roof up after 700 years. The craftsmanship is proper stunning if you know what you're looking at.

It's not a grand cathedral experience.
