St. James' Church

The church sits quietly on the edge of Huntingdon, a solid medieval structure that doesn't shout for attention but rewards those who find it. St James' is one of those proper old parish churches where you can actually feel the weight of centuries - the kind of place where generations have marked births, weddings, and funerals in the same stone building.

Inside, there's decent medieval architecture to pick over if you're into that sort of thing, and the churchyard itself is peaceful enough for a wander. It's not going to take you more than half an hour unless you're the type who reads every memorial stone, which some people genuinely are. The real appeal here is that it's walkable from Huntingdon town centre, so you can easily combine it with an afternoon exploring the town itself.

For families, it's fine as a quick stop - kids won't get much out of lingering, but the churchyard gives them space to stretch their legs. History buffs might find something to engage with, particularly if you're interested in local medieval Cambridgeshire.

If you're based at Wyton Lakes Holiday Park or St Neots Camping and Caravanning Club Site just down the road, St James' makes an easy detour on a rest day. Neither park is more than a couple of miles away. It's the sort of attraction that fits naturally into a wider Huntingdon visit rather than being a destination in itself - worth seeing if you're already in the area, but don't plan a trip around it.
