Finding this modest country church tucked away in the Essex countryside proved a proper surprise. St James sits quietly between Clacton-on-Sea and the surrounding farmland, its weathered stone walls and simple bell tower telling stories of centuries past. The churchyard spreads around it like a patchwork quilt, with ancient headstones leaning at odd angles and wildflowers pushing through the grass.
