St Gluvias' Church

The churchyard at St Gluvias sits on a quiet slope just outside Truro, and it's one of those places where you genuinely feel Cornwall's religious history pressing down on you. The church itself dates back centuries - the tower's a proper Cornish thing, solid granite and no-nonsense - and the grounds are filled with old graves that tell you far more about the area than any tourist board ever could.

What you're actually doing here is wandering through a working parish church and its graveyard. There's no admission charge as far as anyone can tell, and it's the sort of place you can spend anywhere from twenty minutes to an hour depending on how deep you want to go into the gravestones. The views across towards Truro are decent enough, and the peaceful quiet makes a stark contrast to being in town proper.

It won't blow your mind, but it's exactly the kind of thing that reminds you why you came to Cornwall rather than staying on the M25. History buffs will find it genuinely interesting.
