The church sits right in Bridport's town centre, a solid medieval structure that's been watching over the high street for centuries. Inside, it's genuinely striking - soaring columns, proper stained glass, and that particular smell of old stone and furniture polish that you only get in churches that matter. The chancel's worth lingering over if you're into ecclesiastical detail.

It's the sort of place history buffs will spend a good twenty minutes examining, though families with restless kids might find it a bit static after ten. Free to wander in, which is always welcome. The real value here is as a proper stop when you're already exploring Bridport's independent shops and cafes - it breaks up the high street nicely without needing to plan a special trip.

If you're based at one of the nearby glamping sites - Dorset Forest Garden or Swallowfield are both exceptional - St Giles slots neatly into a morning poke around town before heading to the Jurassic Coast or one of the local parks. It's not transformative, but it's solid, well-kept, and genuinely tells you something about medieval Dorset that you won't get standing on a beach.
