St Dunstan

The church sits quietly on the edge of Snargate, a village so small you'll miss it if you're not paying attention. St Dunstan is one of those medieval structures that stops you mid-walk - all flint and stone, with a tower that's watched over the Kentish Weald for centuries. Inside, the space feels properly old. Worn flagstones, wooden beams dark with age, and the kind of stillness you don't get anywhere else.

It's the sort of place that rewards a slow wander rather than a quick tick-box visit. The churchyard is worth lingering in too, with gravestones going back generations. History buffs and walkers will get the most from St Dunstan - it's exactly the kind of spot that makes a rural ramble feel less like exercise and more like discovery. Bring a good map; finding Snargate itself is half the adventure.

If you're based at Romney Meadows or Marlie Holiday Park nearby, this is a proper morning outing. Both parks are within five or six miles, making St Dunstan an easy detour from Tenterden. The church appears to be always open (or at least accessible from the churchyard), and there's no admission charge. Allow thirty minutes to an hour, depending on whether you sit on a bench and just breathe for a bit. Worth the drive from your caravan.
