Chapel Bank

Chapel Bank rises sharply from the Kentish countryside just outside Tenterden, offering proper views across the Weald if you're willing to work for them. The climb itself is straightforward enough, taking about twenty minutes at a steady pace from the nearest access point. You'll pass through mixed woodland and open grassland, and the gradient keeps your legs honest without being punishing. The summit area is modest - no café, no facilities, no crowds - which is precisely what makes it work. You get the sense you've actually gone somewhere rather than ticked a box.

Walkers will find this the most rewarding use of their time, particularly those keen on Kentish landscapes and agricultural vistas. It's the sort of walk that fits neatly into a morning before heading elsewhere, rather than consuming an entire day. Families with younger children might find the ascent a bit much if they're not regular hikers, though older kids will manage it fine.
