St Bartholomew's Church

The church sits right on Newbiggin's seafront, which is honestly the best bit about visiting. You're looking at a Victorian rebuild of a much older structure, completed in 1884, and it's got that solid, no-nonsense Northumberland charm - all red sandstone and proper churchyard. The interior's worth a quick look if you're in the area, with some decent stained glass and the kind of peaceful quiet you don't get on the promenade outside.

It's not a destination in itself, if I'm honest. You won't spend more than twenty minutes inside unless you're really into Victorian ecclesiastical architecture. But if you're staying at one of the holiday parks nearby - Church Point is literally on the doorstep - it's a perfectly pleasant five-minute wander from your static caravan. The real draw is the location itself: the church overlooks the Northumberland coast, and on a clear day you can see right along the bay. Families with young kids might appreciate the churchyard as a break from the beach or the arcades.

Admission appears to be free, though opening hours aren't clearly listed online, so it's worth checking before you visit or just trying the door when you pass. The seafront here is proper bracing - wind comes straight off the North Sea - so dress accordingly. If you're working through several of the Parkdean parks in the area, this is easy to tick off. Sandy Bay and Cresswell Towers are both within a few miles if you're planning a holiday centred on the coastal parks.
