The Field Centre itself handles conservation work and education programmes, but honestly, most visitors come for the cafe and the open space around it. It's a straightforward setup - decent coffee, the kind of spot where locals prop themselves on benches and actually talk to each other rather than stare at their phones.

The park itself gives you a few hours of easy wandering through grassland and woodland. Nothing dramatic, but peaceful enough. Families with young kids will find the open fields handy for letting them burn off steam, and dog walkers clearly rate it given how many you'll see mid-morning. The site has genuine conservation credentials - they manage the meadows for wildflowers and local wildlife - so if you're into that sort of thing, there's real substance here beyond the cake.

Stay a couple of hours maximum unless you're combining it with a longer walk across the area. The cafe's your real draw, particularly if you're based at one of the nearby parks like Chapel Farm Park or Wyldecrest Surrey Hills. Given those are reasonable drives away, Southwood makes a decent half-morning pit stop rather than a main attraction. Worth the trip if you're in Farnham proper and fancy fresh air with your breakfast. On its own? It's a bit too low-key to justify a special journey.
