Sheringham Wood (Bottom Access)

The woodland walk at Sheringham's bottom access is a proper slice of Norfolk nature - the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think. It's a decent stretch of mixed woodland with good paths underfoot, running down towards the coast near Cromer. The trees offer real shelter, which matters more than you'd think when Norfolk's wind picks up, and there's enough variation in the terrain to keep legs engaged without being punishing.

Walkers will get the most out of this. It's not a spectacle - no dramatic vistas or ruins - but it's an honest woodland ramble, the kind where you notice things. Allow an hour or so for a proper explore, depending on which direction you fancy. The paths are accessible enough for families with older kids, though younger ones might find it a touch boring if they're after something with more drama.

Free to access, and it sits nicely within spitting distance of several caravan parks - Beeston Regis Holiday Park is barely over a mile away, with West Runton and Woodhill Park also close by. If you're based at any of these for a Norfolk holiday, Sheringham Wood makes a solid half-morning out without needing to drive far. Pair it with a walk along Cromer's seafront and you've got a decent day sorted. Not Instagram-worthy, but genuinely pleasant.
