Sheen Hill

Views across the Vale of Evesham open up from this modest Worcestershire summit, though at just 144 metres it's hardly a mountain conquest. The hill sits on the edge of Evesham, making it a proper local's walk rather than a tourist magnet - which works in its favour.

Walkers will find pleasant woodland paths leading to the top, where the reward is a decent panorama over the Cotswolds fringe. It's not spectacular, but on a clear day you can pick out the Malvern Hills in the distance. The climb takes about 30 minutes from Evesham's outskirts, making it ideal for families with older children who fancy a bit of fresh air without the drama of a proper hike.

Dog walkers seem to have claimed this as their territory, and you'll likely encounter more locals than visitors. The paths can get muddy after rain - hardly surprising for a Midlands hill walk. Worth combining with a wander around Evesham itself, particularly if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Broadway Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or Bredon-Vale Caravan and Camping. Ranch Caravan Park sits closest at less than a mile away, making Sheen Hill a handy leg-stretcher if you're based there. Not earth-shattering, but a pleasant enough way to spend an hour.
