Sculpture Garden

You'll find this sculpture garden just outside Bridport, a proper treat if you're into art or simply fancy a different sort of walk. The collection changes with the seasons, so there's always something fresh to stumble upon - bronze figures, abstract pieces, installations that make you look twice. It's the kind of place where you can wander for half an hour or spend longer depending on how deep you want to go with it.

The garden itself is open space, so you're not trapped in a gallery watching your step around precious things. Kids can actually run about a bit, though younger ones might lose interest once they've worked out it's not a playground. If you're staying at one of the nearby glamping spots like Walnut Farm or Hidden Valley Dorset, it's an easy pop over for an afternoon - close enough not to feel like a mission, far enough that it doesn't feel tacked on.

I'd suggest going mid-week if you can, when Bridport quietens down and you've got the sculptures more or less to yourself. The light's best in late afternoon, and the whole thing takes on a different mood. Bring a camera - the way pieces interact with the Dorset landscape is genuinely worth capturing.

Worth the trip if you're in the area anyway. Don't make a special journey purely for this, but if you're based at a holiday park within a few miles, it rounds out a day nicely. Check ahead on opening times before you go - information can be sparse.
