School Farm

School Farm sits just outside Warton Bank in Lancashire, a proper working farm that's been part of the local landscape for generations. It's the sort of place where you can actually see what farming life looks like - animals in their fields, the rhythm of the seasons, real work happening. The appeal here is straightforward: if you've got kids who think milk comes from supermarkets, or you just fancy a break from the usual tourist traps, this does the job.

You'll find sheep, cattle, and the general rural business of a genuine working operation. It's not a theme park farm with manicured petting areas - this is the real thing, which some families will love and others might find a touch underwhelming depending on what they're after. Walkers doing circuits around the area will appreciate it as a landmark break; history types less so. The farm works best as an add-on to a park holiday rather than a destination in itself.

Stay at Sea View Caravan Park just up the road - it's barely half a mile away - and you can pop over for an hour or so without much planning. Ribby Hall Village and Mowbreck Park are also close enough for a morning visit before heading elsewhere. No word on whether there's a charge for wandering about, so ring ahead to check opening arrangements. Best visited during daylight hours, obviously, and spring or early summer when there's proper farm activity happening. Don't expect much in the way of facilities - bring what you need.
