Rosemead Covert

A proper woodland walk through the Buckinghamshire countryside, Rosemead Covert sits just outside Tring and offers a straightforward escape into the trees without any fuss or visitor infrastructure. It's the sort of place you stumble upon while exploring the wider area rather than make a special trip for, but if you're based at Hill Farm Camping nearby, it's worth knowing about.

The covert itself is modest - ancient woodland with good paths running through it, the kind of place where you'll spot bluebells in spring and fungi poking through leaf litter come autumn. There's nothing dramatic here, no viewpoint or landmark building, just mature trees and the chance for a proper woodland ramble. Walkers will appreciate it more than casual visitors; families with young kids might find an hour enough before boredom sets in.

Best visited in late April when the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells, or autumn when the light filtering through the canopy is at its most atmospheric. Go midweek to avoid any weekend crowds in this corner of Buckinghamshire. There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need and leave nothing behind.

It works well as part of a wider walking day around Tring rather than a standalone attraction. Pair it with the nearby Tring Park or other woodland walks in the Chilterns to build a proper outdoor day.
