Deep into Gloucestershire's countryside, Rooks Wood is a proper woodland escape that feels a world away from Gloucester's urban sprawl - yet it's barely twenty minutes from the city centre. The forest floor here is thick with moss and last season's leaves, and on a decent day the canopy filters light in that particular way that makes you want to walk slowly and actually notice things.
