Doverow Hill

Standing at 288 metres, this modest Gloucestershire peak won't challenge serious hikers but rewards visitors with proper countryside views across the Severn Vale. The climb from nearby lanes takes about 30 minutes through farmland and woodland - nothing too taxing for reasonably fit families with older children.

Walkers will appreciate the mix of footpaths leading to the summit, though the route can get muddy after rain. From the top, you'll spot Gloucester Cathedral in the distance on clear days, with the Forest of Dean rolling away to the west. It's not spectacular, but it's a decent stretch of the legs.

The lack of facilities means bringing your own refreshments - there's nowhere to grab a coffee at the top.
