Station Masters Garden

Tucked behind what was once a Victorian railway station, this pocket-sized garden catches most visitors by surprise. The original station building may have vanished, but the Station Master's careful plantings live on - a proper railway garden with the sort of regimented flower beds that would have made any Victorian proud.

Train enthusiasts will spot the railway heritage immediately, though don't expect rolling stock or platforms. This is purely about the horticultural side of railway history. The beds are laid out with military precision, filled with seasonal displays that change throughout the year. Spring brings daffodils and tulips in neat rows, while summer sees a riot of bedding plants that wouldn't look out of place at a country show.

Families with young children might find it a bit limited - there's not much to do beyond admiring the flowers and perhaps spotting the occasional robin. Garden lovers, however, will appreciate the attention to detail and the way period plants have been maintained.

Given its location near Gloucester, it makes a decent stopping point if you're touring the area's caravan parks like Apple Tree Park Holiday Homes or Gables Farm Campsite. Allow about thirty minutes unless you're a serious gardener, in which case you might linger longer over the heritage varieties. Best visited in late spring or early summer when the displays are at their peak.
