Roche Court showcases modern and contemporary work across multiple indoor galleries and, more interestingly, sprawls into the grounds with site-specific installations that actually use the landscape rather than just decorating it.

The appeal here depends entirely on your tolerance for challenging art. If you're into conceptual pieces and installations that make you think (or quietly baffled), you'll find it worthwhile. Families with young children might find an hour enough - there's not much interactive stuff - but serious art types could easily spend a full afternoon picking through the exhibitions and wandering the sculpture park. The setting itself, rolling Hampshire countryside with proper views, counts for something even if the current shows don't grab you.
