About Robinson
Walkers will love this one. It's meaty enough to feel like a real day out, but not so extreme that you're nursing sore knees for a week afterwards. Families with teenagers can manage it fine; younger kids might struggle with the endurance rather than difficulty. The views back towards High Stile and across to Grasmoor make it worth the effort, though I'll be honest - on a grey day it's a bit of a slog with nothing to show for it.
Free to walk, as with most Lake District fells. Allow a full morning or afternoon, especially if you're not mountain-fit. The nearest base is Keswick, about 20 minutes away - Castlerigg Hall and Keswick Camping Club are both solid spots for a park holiday. Whinfell Hall Farm works too if you're looking for something quieter. Combine Robinson with an afternoon around Buttermere village, or link it to Haystacks if you're feeling ambitious. Best in drier months - the fell path can get boggy.
