Reigate Priory Museum

The ruins of a 12th-century Augustinian priory sit in a proper Surrey setting - grounds that manage to feel both grand and intimate at once. What you're looking at are the remains of the gatehouse and some seriously substantial walls, plus a museum housed in what was the prior's lodge. The actual exhibits cover the priory's history from its founding through to dissolution, with some decent artefacts that give you a sense of who lived and worked here.

It's the kind of place that appeals most to local history types and anyone with a genuine interest in medieval religious life. Families with older kids might find an hour here worthwhile, but younger ones will probably tire quickly - there's not much interactive stuff, and the ruins themselves demand a certain level of imagination to bring back to life. That said, if you're camping at one of the nearby parks like Merrywood or Surrey Hills, it's close enough for an afternoon outing without major hassle from Tadworth.
