Tadworth occupies that sweet spot between commuter convenience and proper countryside - close enough to London for the 8.15 but far enough out to feel properly rural.

The real draw here is the access to the Surrey Hills National Landscape. Snower Hill offers cracking views across the Weald, while Reigate's collection of attractions makes for proper day trips. The Reigate Tunnel Road Caves are fascinatingly weird - Victorian railway tunnels that never quite worked out. Box Hill draws the cyclists and walkers, but the area around Betchworth and Brockham feels less trampled. The Holmesdale Natural History Club Museum might sound niche, but it's surprisingly engaging for anyone interested in the local geology and wildlife.

Getting here is straightforward - Tadworth station connects to London Victoria, though Reigate's the bigger transport hub. The M25 sweeps past to the north, making car access simple enough from most directions.

Staying at one of the nearby parks makes perfect sense for exploring both the Surrey Hills and the North Downs. You're close enough to Dorking and Guildford for proper shopping, but far enough from the motorway chaos to actually hear birdsong. Surrey Hills Yurts and the various camping options around Norbury Park put you right in the countryside without sacrificing access to civilisation.
