Redroad Hill

The walk up Redroad Hill takes the better part of an hour if you're not pushing it, and the payoff is a proper viewpoint across Bracknell Forest that catches most people off guard. You get sweeping views of the Surrey Hills in one direction and decent woodland vistas the other way - nothing dramatic, but solid walking country with good sightlines.

It's best tackled from the Guildford side, though the nearest proper accommodation lies a few miles south. If you're based at Chapel Farm Park, which genuinely punches above its weight at 4.6 stars, the hill makes an excellent half-day excursion. Warfield Park and Wyldecrest Surrey Hills are equally close, though Chapel Farm is the better choice for families wanting something less hectic.

Go early if you want the hill to yourself. Late morning onwards and you'll share the path with local dog walkers and the odd hiker with serious kit. The woodland can be muddy in winter - proper boots are non-negotiable after rain. Spring and autumn are ideal; summer can feel airless under the trees.

This isn't a destination attraction. It's a cracking afternoon for walkers wanting good elevation and clear air without the tourist crowds you'd get further south. The views won't stop you dead, but the walk itself is satisfying and the terrain keeps you engaged. Best paired with time in the broader Bracknell Forest area rather than treated as a standalone day trip from Guildford.
