Redrise Furze Brake

Redrise Furze Brake is a proper woodland walk just outside New Milton, the sort of place locals know but visitors often miss. It's small-scale forestry rather than grand parkland - dense trees, mossy paths, and that particular Hampshire quiet you don't get on the main roads. You'll spend maybe 45 minutes to an hour wandering through here depending on how you meander. There's nothing flash about it. No visitor centre, no cafes, just trees and space.

Walkers and families with older kids will get the most from this. It's easy enough underfoot but tight enough that pushchairs would struggle. The appeal is simple: you want fresh air and a forest that doesn't feel managed to death. In autumn the light comes through nicely. Winter's muddy but atmospheric.

Since it's within spitting distance of New Milton and close to several forest-facing campsites - Setthorns and Holmsley are barely two miles away - it works perfectly as a morning outing before breakfast or late afternoon when the light's golden.
