Laser tag in a converted warehouse just outside Chester - Quasar is the sort of place that looks dodgy from the car park but absolutely delivers once you're through the doors. The arena itself is a proper maze of walls, ramps, and darkened corridors where you're hunting other players with infrared guns. It's loud, it's sweaty, and it's genuinely brilliant if you've got kids old enough to take it seriously (I'd say eight upwards, though younger ones can join in).

The setup is straightforward enough - you get kitted out with a gun and a vest, briefed on the rules, then sent in for a game that typically lasts fifteen to twenty minutes. Scoring is instant on your vest, which keeps things competitive and stops arguments about who actually hit whom. Multiple games back-to-back are the way forward because the first round's always confusing and by round two people know the layout.

Whether it's worth the drive from Chester depends entirely on your crew. For families after something active and properly entertaining rather than the usual attractions, it works. On school holidays it gets rammed, so going midweek or early in the day pays off. Quasar sits nicely as a rainy-day option if you're based at Fir Trees or Netherwood, both within easy reach. Allow an hour total including the briefing, though you'll want longer if you're planning multiple games. It's not cheap, but it's the kind of thing kids still talk about weeks later.
