Pump Copse

The woodland around Pump Copse is a proper bit of the Isle of Wight that most visitors miss. It's not a formal attraction with gates and admission fees - more a stretch of forest where you can walk without crowds, which makes it rather refreshing. The trees are thick enough to feel genuinely secluded, and the paths wind through quietly without the manicured feel of a country estate.

It works best for anyone after a straightforward woodland walk. Not dramatic, not rare, just solid forest. Families with young kids won't find a playground or visitor centre, so don't come expecting facilities. Walkers and anyone after an hour or two away from the bustle of Yarmouth will find it worthwhile. The paths are manageable, though muddy patches turn up after rain - nothing steep or technical.
