The Priory Memorial Gardens near Royston are a quiet pocket of green space that rewards a short detour if you're spending time in the area. It's a proper nature reserve rather than a manicured garden - think native trees, wild planting, and the kind of spot where you might actually see birds instead of just hearing them mentioned on a sign.

Walkers will get the most from it. The paths meander through woodland and open areas, taking maybe 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much you potter about.
