Pot Haw Hill

The walk up Pot Haw Hill, just outside Skipton, is a proper bite-sized fell outing - nothing fancy, but solid. You're looking at moorland proper, the sort of walking that clears your head in an afternoon without requiring crampons or a survival kit. The summit itself isn't dramatic, but on a clear day you get decent views across the Pennines and down towards the Aire Valley. It's the kind of place locals know about and visitors miss.

This one suits walkers who want fresh air without drama, or families with kids old enough to manage a couple of hours on their feet without complaints. The climb isn't steep enough to punish, but it's not a stroll either. Reckon on ninety minutes return if you're not hanging about, though you might well want to sit up there with a flask and watch the light change across the moorland.

There's no visitor infrastructure - no car park amenities, no cafe, nothing like that. You sort yourself out. Access is free, naturally. Go early if you want solitude; weekends bring a steady trickle of locals.

If you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots - Hedgerow Luxury Glamping or Thornton Hall Country Park are closest - this makes a natural morning or late afternoon mission. It won't take your whole day, which means you can combine it with Malham village, proper climbing at Limestone, or just settling back to your pod with a good book. Honest fell walking, nothing pretentious about it.
