Polgoon Vineyard & Orchard

About twenty minutes inland from the north Cornwall coast, Polgoon makes its own ciders and fruit wines in a working orchard near Bosulval. It's a proper working farm operation, not some twee tourist trap - you can actually see production happening if you time it right, and there's a shop where you can taste before you buy.

The draw here is straightforward: exceptionally good local cider made from apples grown on the same land. Their perry (pear cider) is the standout, though the dry cider appeals to anyone who finds most supermarket stuff too sweet. The orchard itself is pleasant enough for a wander if the weather's behaving, and they do food events through the summer that pull locals from across the peninsula.

It's not a destination in itself - you won't spend three hours here unless you're serious about cider. But if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Roselands or Foxglove Field Glamping, it makes a solid afternoon diversion combined with a drive toward St. Ives. The shop is worth poking around, and if they're running tastings when you visit, grab a slot.

Best visited late May through September when the orchard's actually interesting and events are on. Bring cash if you're planning to buy bottles - some small producers here still prefer it. Not thrilling for kids unless they enjoy orchards, but genuinely excellent if you care about cider.
