Mulfra Quoit

Mulfra Quoit is a Neolithic burial chamber that's been sitting on a Cornish hillside for roughly 5,000 years - and it absolutely looks the part. Three upright stones support a massive capstone, weathered grey and tilted at an angle that somehow makes it feel more ancient, not less. You can walk right up to it. There's no fence, no visitor centre, no gift shop. Just stones and sky and the kind of quiet that makes you think about who put this here and why they thought it would last forever.

The walk from Bosulval takes perhaps twenty minutes across open moorland - proper bracing stuff when the wind picks up. Bring decent boots; the ground's uneven and boggy in patches. History buffs will absolutely rate this - it's genuinely old, genuinely intact, and genuinely humbling. Families with younger kids might find it a bit underwhelming after the initial five minutes, unless they're the type to sit and imagine Bronze Age burials. Walkers will love the moorland setting and the lack of crowds.

There's no admission charge and no fixed hours - you simply turn up. The nearest towns like Penzance have proper facilities if you need a coffee afterwards. If you're staying at one of the local parks like Polmanter Touring Park or St. Ives Holiday Village, this makes a solid half-day outing. Worth doing once. Whether it justifies a special trip depends entirely on your appetite for standing quietly in front of very old rocks.
