Phillack Chuch ( St. Felicitas )

St. Felicitas sits on a quiet lane just outside Hayle, easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The church itself is small and ancient - the sort of place where you half expect to find medieval graffiti on the walls and actually do. What draws people here is partly the history (it's been standing since at least the 12th century) and partly the sheer peacefulness of the location. You can wander round the churchyard, read the old gravestones, and get a proper sense of what rural Cornwall felt like centuries ago.

Historically minded visitors will appreciate it most. It's not flashy or heavily restored, which is honestly refreshing - you see the building as it actually is, not some sanitised version of it. Families with young kids might find twenty minutes enough unless they're really into exploring graveyards and ruined bits of stonework.

The church is free to visit, though opening hours can be unpredictable - it's worth ringing ahead or checking locally. Allow half an hour maximum unless you're sketching or photographing. The real value is how it fits into a wider wander around Hayle and the surrounding area. If you're based at Haven Riviere Sands or one of the other holiday parks nearby, this is a decent leg-stretch that won't eat up your whole afternoon. Combine it with a proper walk round Hayle itself or head towards St. Ives if you want something with more of a buzz.
