Perranzabuloe Beach

The beach at Perranzabuloe is something of a time capsule - literally. At low tide, the sand shifts to reveal the remains of a medieval church, its tower poking through like a stubborn reminder that this coast has been swallowing history for centuries. It's genuinely eerie, walking across wet sand towards what was once a place of worship, now half-buried and gradually being reclaimed by the Atlantic.

The beach itself stretches for a decent distance and gets busy in summer, particularly near Perranporth where the shops and cafes are. But head further down and you'll find quieter stretches. The sand is firm and good for walking, backed by low cliffs that don't tower over you the way they do further south along the coast.

This works best for walkers and people interested in Cornwall's stranger stories. Kids will find the submerged church odd rather than thrilling - it's not the kind of dramatic ruin that holds attention for hours. You're looking at an hour or two here, maybe longer if you're keen on geology or local history. Come at low tide, obviously, or you'll see nothing but ordinary beach.

It's a straightforward drive from Perran View Holiday Park, making it an easy add-on to a week in the area. The walk along the sand connects you to that wider stretch of north Cornwall coast without needing to drive between spots. Not revolutionary, but properly interesting if you're staying nearby and fancy something different from the usual beach day.
