The memorial sits quietly in the village of Penn, just outside Amersham - a solid stone monument that pulls you up short when you round the corner. The surrounding lanes are lovely for walking, and Amersham high street has proper independent shops worth browsing. Worth the detour if you're exploring the Chilterns properly, but don't expect it to eat up much time. It's a moment, not a destination.
