The walk around the reserve is straightforward, nothing strenuous, so families with younger kids won't struggle. Allow an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you're keen on bird spotting and actually want to sit still for five minutes. Binoculars make it worthwhile - there's real variety here depending on the season. Early morning visits beat afternoons hollow, quieter and the light's better. It's free entry, which helps justify the short drive from Beverley if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks. Manor Farm Camping and Spring Valley Campsite are both within striking distance, making this an easy add-on to a broader East Yorkshire break. Burton Constable Holiday Park sits a touch further afield but still accessible. The reserve works best if you're already in the area rather than a destination in itself, but if you're staying locally and fancy a couple of hours outdoors without the hiking commitment, it ticks the box. Winter months bring different species through, so it's worth a return visit if you're repeat visitors to the region.
