Ash Plantation

Ash Plantation is a straightforward woodland walk just outside Beverley, the kind of place you'd stumble across if you were staying at one of the nearby caravan parks and fancied stretching your legs without driving anywhere. It's genuinely just trees - ash predominantly, as the name suggests - with paths threading through. Nothing flashy, no visitor centre or coffee shop, but that's rather the point.

What you get is quiet. Real quiet. Walk here if you're after some green space away from the caravan site, especially useful if you've got restless kids who need burning off before lunch. The paths are manageable for most abilities, though expect muddy sections after rain - it's a working plantation, not a manicured park.

If you're based at Butt Farm Caravan or High Farm Holiday Park, this is genuinely worth the short drive over. It fills a gap between a quick twenty-minute trot and a proper half-day outing. Not the most dramatic woodland in Yorkshire, but it does the job. For history types or serious nature spotters, the nearby Burton Constable Holiday Park & Arboretum might be more your speed - that one's got collections and structure.

Timing-wise, allow an hour to ninety minutes. Go early to avoid any chance of crowds, though honestly you're unlikely to bump into hordes here. Spring's probably loveliest, when the new growth comes through, but autumn works fine too when the ash colours up.
