This modest peak sits in the rolling countryside between Preston and the Forest of Bowland, offering proper views across the Ribble Valley on a clear day. It's not dramatic or towering - more of a steady climb through farmland and moorland paths that takes about an hour or so from the nearest access point.

The appeal here is quiet and understated. Walkers get a genuine sense of achievement without needing expensive kit or half the day. On weekends you might see a handful of other people; on weekdays you could have it to yourself. The views aren't spectacular enough to drag non-walkers up there, so don't expect crowds or commercialisation. It's the sort of place families with decent walking legs will actually enjoy rather than tolerate.

The climb is straightforward but steady. Bring proper boots if you're planning this after rain - the paths can get boggy. Summer months are ideal, though spring walks have their charm too. Allow two to three hours including breaks and photo stops.

If you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Beacon Fell View or Wigwam Holidays Kidsnape Farm are both within striking distance - this makes a brilliant half-day outing. It pairs well with exploring Beacon Fell itself, which is more developed and has better facilities. Paddy's Pole feels like the road less travelled, which is exactly what you want when you've had enough of the honeypot spots.
