Overton Cliff

The walk up to Overton Cliff rewards you with proper sweeping views across Swansea Bay - the kind where you can see the whole sweep of coast unfold beneath you. It's a straightforward coastal viewpoint, no faffing about, just good vantage point above the water with the town laid out behind you.

You won't need long here - thirty minutes is plenty unless you're the type to sit with a flask and watch the light change. The cliffs themselves are reasonably dramatic but not exactly Alpine; this is South Wales coastal walking, understated but honest. The path is accessible enough for families with older kids, though younger ones might find the walk tedious getting there.

Free to visit, naturally. No café, no visitor centre, no gift shop - just the view and the wind. It's genuinely nice on a clear day. Less brilliant when the weather's turning, which in South Wales is fairly often, so pick your moment.

If you're camping at Newpark Holiday Park or Skysea just down the road, this is an easy afternoon outing. The cliffs sit close enough to Swansea itself that you could combine it with a wander through town if you wanted something a bit more substantial. For serious walkers tackling the Gower Peninsula, this is a natural waypoint rather than a destination in itself - good place to pause, check the map, maybe eat a sandwich.

Worth doing if you're in the area and the weather's cooperative. Don't expect to spend the whole day here, but as part of a coastal walk it ticks the box.
